Minard Castle
A shattered 16th-century tower house standing guard over one of Ireland's finest storm beaches of sea-rounded boulders.
Worth the wander
Minard Castle is a ruined 16th-century FitzGerald tower house on the Dingle Peninsula, overlooking Minard Bay near Annascaul. Below it lies a large storm beach of smooth, rounded boulders thrown up by Atlantic storms, regarded as one of the finest examples of its kind in Ireland. The castle itself was badly damaged by Cromwellian forces in the 1650s.
