Dunbeg Fort

An Iron Age promontory fort perched on a sheer Dingle Peninsula cliff, its drystone rampart and souterrain still standing after a cliff collapse took part of the fort into the sea.

Worth the wander

Dunbeg Fort (An Dun Beag) is an Iron Age promontory fort on a cliff south of Slea Head on the Dingle Peninsula, with four earthen banks, five fosses and a drystone rampart with a guarded entrance and underground passage (souterrain). A 2017 cliff collapse damaged part of the site, and fencing now limits access to the safe areas.
