Donaghadee Harbour & Lighthouse

A limestone lighthouse from 1836 guarding a Georgian harbour that was once the main crossing point to Scotland.

Worth the wander

Donaghadee's stone harbour, designed by engineer John Rennie, was completed in the 1830s and for a time was the principal packet-boat link between Ireland and Scotland. Its white-and-black lighthouse, built in 1836, still marks the harbour entrance.
